Going for Gold at Tatton Park
In 2021 we supported recent Eden graduate, Freddie Strickland, with his first show garden at RHS Tatton Park. ‘On Tropic’ celebrated the sub-tropical gardens found in Cornwall, reimagining this iconic style in a northerly, domestic context. In this environmentally conscious garden design, a traditional plant palette was replaced with a tropical scheme that would likely thrive in northern gardens considering our warming weather. With climate change a pressing concern, the garden speculated on the future of low impact garden design and how northern gardens might look in the future.
Freddie won RHS Young Designer of the Year, the garden received a Gold medal, and we scooped the Best Construction award. The garden was supported by a number of generous suppliers, including Indian Ocean, Provender Nurseries and CED Stone Group.
